Born and raised in El Paso, Tx, Stephen Molina and Abraham Marinelarena first formed the Alternative Folk Rock duo, Mountain Vibes, on August 16, 2016. In just under a year, after making their way through the open mic circuit and opening for local and traveling bands around El Paso, the ambition of Mountain Vibes transformed drastically.
Fully realizing the driving rhythms and powerful dynamics that the songs demanded, the duo partnered up with fellow El Pasoans Robert Hanlon (Stan Z, The Cabarets) on drums and Brianna Villalobos (prolific vocalist & semifinalist on "Tengo Talento, Mucho Talento 2018") on bass guitar/vocals. These two additions without question became crucial to the backbone and scope of the band's direction.
In December 2017, the band released their debut EP "Mountain Town" -- the title track and an homage to their city and roots -- on iTunes, Spotify, etc, reaching radio airplay in southern U.S. and international regions. Shortly after, they earned an invitation to perform at the 2018 Neon Desert Music Festival, followed by their first music video release in August 2017.
Shortly after, Mountain Vibes was voted top 3 in the City Magazine’s “Best Local Band of the Year” with a second record about to be recorded starting early next year. 2019 will also feature two new music videos, some merchandising, and an album release tour in the summer, hoping to continue spreading good indie folk and hearty Mountain Vibes!
